Lesson 9: Next steps
Your site is live on the web, but right now we are using a free Weebly subdomain, like www.mycompany.weebly.com. I would highly suggest registering your own domain name. It's the professional thing to do.
Before you choose a domain name, look at the section on this topic in the Action Guide. Choosing the right domain name can have a significant impact on whether or not you get ranked highly by Google.
You can register a domain with any registrar, but I would suggest registering with Weebly even though it may be a few dollars more simply because it's so easy. They will update your entire site with the new name instantly. You will never have to worry about logging into a registrar account to configure your settings and you'll save yourself from the bruises that will ensue as you bang your head against the wall in frustration. Easy things get done. Complicated things don't. So if you are not technically inclined, register your domain with Weebly. Login to register your domain name (but only after you've read my suggestions in the Action Guide.)
I also review the Pro features. The basic service will likely be fine, but the Pro service is only $71 for two years ($2.99 per month) and that gives you a $25 advertising credit with Google. Believe me, there are much worse ways to waste your money. Skip your Starbucks coffee for awhile, save your money and go Pro.
It's not outlined in this video, so be sure to look in the Next Steps section of the Action Guide to find out how to let Google know that your site exists so it can be indexed and ranked.
This is our last lesson of the course, so I'll say goodbye. But before you leave me I have a couple of requests:
